Foundation endows $100,000 to support Continuum Foster Care Reform
SACRAMENTO, Calif.,— The Kelly Foundation has awarded $100,000 to Stanford Youth Solutions to support local Sacramento foster youth through the launch of Continuum Foster Care Reform. Since merging with the RCB Foundation in 2009, the Kelly Foundation, of which River City Bank remains a major contributor, focuses on giving back to the greater Sacramento region through charitable donations. The Kelly Foundation Board selected Stanford Youth Solutions as the recipient of the 2015 Major Gift in order to bridge the gaps within today’s critically underfunded foster care system and to improve the experience and outcome of fostered youth in Sacramento.
“While we would be pleased to award all of the applicants within our grant pool, we selected Stanford Youth Solutions because they provide desperately needed services and unyielding dedication to families in the Sacramento region,” said Chairman of the Board of River City Bank and President of the Kelly Foundation Shawn Kelly Devlin. “Continuum Foster Care Reform works to ensure that these children can unite with a family and grow up with a lifetime of love and support.”
At present, Stanford Youth Solutions provides support to over 100 young people annually with complex needs whose families are not accepted in other foster care agencies or homes. To date, 80 percent of fostered young people have successfully moved into stable homes or independent living situations. The Kelly Foundation’s grant has been allocated to Continuum Foster Care Reform, a program that works to create seamless transitions for young people through foster care. The reform focuses on creating permanent solutions for foster children by locating and supporting a lifetime family placement.
“The grant money we have received will help bring hope and healing to the lives of vulnerable children and families across Sacramento,” said Stanford Youth Solutions CEO Dr. Laura Heintz. “Every child deserves to feel the love and support of a family, and we want to provide the resources to see it come to fruition.”
The Kelly Foundation supports health and human services, education, culture, environment and civic improvement through their funding. Each year, the Foundation provides approximately $400,000 in grants to organizations that support the Sacramento region.
