
Carolyn Turner is a Senior Vice President, Real Estate Relationship Manager with our Sacramento Team. She is responsible for building and cultivating commercial real estate relationships and managing existing CRE portfolios. In between zoom meetings and client calls, we caught up with her to talk about her love for the outdoors, the importance of giving back, and appreciating the blessings of everyday life.
Hometown: Calistoga, California. I grew up in wine country!
First Job: Dishwasher at a local restaurant when I was 15. That was hard work at $3.35 per hour!
First Car: A Chevy Camaro. I saved every penny from my dishwashing and odd jobs to purchase it.
Favorite Movie: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and The Devil Wears Prada are definitely at the top of my list.
Favorite song: Most anything from the 1980s and the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Eagles.
Favorite city to visit: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and Sennfeld, Germany.
Favorite place in Sacramento: Green Acres Nursery. I love to garden, plus I can take my dog!
First site or app you check in the morning: Text messages on my cell phone.
Morning ritual: Tune in to the local and world news, log-on to check e-mails, and coffee. My wonderful husband makes me an awesome latte’ every single morning!
If you have an extra hour in the day, how would you spend it? I would take my dog for an extra-long walk or putter in my garden – anything outdoors!
Radio or podcasts? Radio – Sirius XM.
Which talent would you most like to have? Fluency in multiple languages.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I like to Scuba dive, snorkel, and zipline while on tropical vacations.

Which causes/non-profits do you support? I am on the Board of the National Charity League (El Dorado Hills Chapter), where I volunteer alongside my daughter at numerous local non-profits such as Animal Outreach, Snowline Hospice, Sacramento Food Bank, and the Upper Room Dining Hall. It is so gratifying to teach my daughter the importance of giving back, especially during these times of need.
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Watching my daughter grow up to be a better version of me and leaving behind a better world for her.
What is your greatest extravagance? Travel. When we can travel again safely, a return trip to Costa Rica and a first time trip to the Galapagos Islands are at the top of my list.
What is your current state of mind? Grateful for the past and hopeful for the future.
What was the best piece of business advice you were given when you were starting out? Do what you enjoy, and success will follow.
What is your biggest takeaway from the pandemic? The importance of family, good health, and appreciating the blessings of everyday life.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Personally, being a mother. Professionally, being part of a start-up bank that grew into a successful merger.
What do you like best about working at River City Bank? I immediately felt welcomed and part of the team. While I have only been with RCB for a couple of months, everyone has been so kind and willing to help. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so at home!
