Jason Perry is a Business Development Officer with River City Bank. He is responsible for generating new financial relationships within the commercial real estate space. We recently met with Jason, and he spoke about his love for the outdoors, his guitar-playing skills, and what he appreciates most about working at River City Bank.
Hometown: Modesto, CA.
First Job: I worked a few odd jobs throughout high school, but my first full-time job was at a cabinet manufacturing warehouse in Tracy, CA, during the summer after my first year of college. Not very glamorous, but it was a good first job that taught me a lot.
First Car: 1993 Dodge Ram.
Favorite Quote(s): “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” – Wayne Gretzky
Favorite Movie: Inglourious Basterds. I’m a big fan of Quentin Tarantino.
Favorite city to visit: Lake Tahoe. Any time of year. I love to ski in the winter and golf or fish in the summer. I recently played Lake Tahoe Golf Course with my Dad and two brothers. Beautiful course.
Favorite place in the Sacramento area: Folsom Lake. Can’t beat a day on the lake boating/skiing with friends!
First apps you check in the morning: Wall Street Journal and email.
What are you reading right now? A Patriot’s History of the United States. I’ve been a U.S. history junkie since I was in grade school. America’s development is truly fascinating.
Morning ritual: I typically get to the gym around 6 am or so. From there, I start a pot of coffee, check email, and read a few articles.
What is your current state of mind? Energetic and focused.
If you have an extra hour in the day, how would you spend it? At the driving range or having a beer with friends.
Radio or podcasts? Both! I routinely listen to the Pardon My Take (Sports) and the Joe Rogan Podcast (pretty much everything), but I also love classic rock and country music. Don’t think I could pick one over the other.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I dabble with playing the guitar. I started playing in college on a whim, but ended up developing a passion for it. For me, it’s a great way to unplug and blow off steam. You don’t want to hear me sing, though!
Which causes/nonprofits do you support? Central Valley Waterfowl Association. I’m an avid duck hunter! (Photo credit: Riley Gardner)
What is your idea of perfect happiness? Anywhere without cell service.
What is your greatest extravagance? At $6/gallon, gasoline!
What was the best piece of business advice you were given when you were starting out? Although not directed at business specifically, my Dad has a few good lines he likes to repeat: “never say ‘I can’t” and “it’s okay to make mistakes, but don’t make the same mistake twice.” Simple, but meaningful.
What do you like best about working at River City Bank? The grit/dedication of my colleagues. Banking presents its fair share of complexities and challenges, which often bring long hours, but the team always manages to stay focused in pursuit of the Bank’s long-term goals. It takes a select group of talented, dedicated people to achieve the growth RCB has experienced over the years. I tip my cap.
