Meet Jewel Soiland

""

Jewel Soiland is a Relationship Manager at River City Bank, where she’s known as the go‑to resource and trusted advocate for her clients. She approaches banking as a true partnership, serving as both an advisor and problem solver while building relationships that support her clients’ bigger goals, not just their accounts. That people‑first mindset was shaped early in her career when she spent several years working for her family’s construction company. She recently took a break to talk with us about her audiobook obsession, the simple thrill of a perfectly brewed cup of tea, and the meaningful time she spent living and working in Buenos Aires.

Hometown: Petaluma, CA

First Job: One of my first jobs at age 15 was as an Accounts Payable Clerk for my parents’ concrete ready-mix company, Northgate Ready Mix. In this early role, I learned QuickBooks, payables management, and developed a strong attention to detail while understanding firsthand how essential accuracy is in accounting.

Favorite city to visit:  Buenos Aires, Argentina! I spent nearly a year there working at an accounting firm, and that time became one of the most memorable chapters of my life. Beyond achieving native-level Spanish fluency, I formed lasting friendships and truly felt at home in the city. For anyone planning a visit, I highly recommend booking a dinner reservation at Don Julio Parrilla well in advance; it’s an exceptional steakhouse and fills up quickly!

Favorite place in California: I’ve always loved the rocky coast of Northern California.

What are you reading right now? I recently finished Shoe Dog, a memoir by the founder of Nike. It was an exceptional story. One of my many takeaways is the perseverance and problem solving required by any entrepreneur starting or growing a company.

If you have an extra hour in the day, how would you spend it? Probably reading!

Radio or podcasts? Audiobooks! I finished 126 audiobooks in 2025.

What is your coffee or tea order? I stopped drinking coffee a couple of years ago, but I love a good chai or matcha. I recently brought back some matcha powder from Kyoto, Japan and have been enjoying it immensely.

What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I love to dance! I did several years of ballroom dancing and attend a weekly social dance for West Coast Swing. I also recently got back into competitive West Coast Swing after a several year break from competition.

What did you want to be when you were a child? As a child, I wanted to be a doctor. My dreams of a medical profession ended abruptly when I witnessed my brother getting stitches and realized I couldn’t handle the sight of blood.

Which living person do you most admire? I have a lot of admiration and respect for my dad. Alongside my mom, he had a dynamic entrepreneurial career and built a strong reputation in the Sonoma County construction industry. As most entrepreneurs do, he experienced failure in his pursuit of success, but he always got back up to try again the next day. I most admire his work ethic, integrity, and vision. These are the values that drive successful business leaders, and I’m proud to be his daughter.

What do you like best about working at River City Bank? I appreciate being surrounded by hard-working people, who are all striving for excellence.
